Movie: Laparoscopic salpingostomy for blocked fallopian tube

One of the commonest cause of female infertility are blocked fallopian tubes. This can result from infection or adhesions (scarring) following pelvic or abdominal surgery. If the fallopian tubes are blocked at the fimbrial end (the part near the ovaries), then it is sometimes possible to open the blockage surgically to provide a chance for pregnancy. Patency of the fallopian tube is confirmed by injecting a blue dye into the uterus (womb), as shown near the end of this clip.
