Movie: Laparoscopic parovarian cystectomy

Parovarian cysts are less common than ovarian cysts, but because they tend to persist and cannot easily be distinguished from cysts which arise from the ovary itself by imaging techniques such as ultrasound, patients often end up with the recommendation to undergo surgery to confirm that the cyst is benign. As with benign ovarian cysts, laparoscopic excision offers many advantages over laparotomy. Plastic bags are often used to remove cystic lesions to minimize the risk of spilling the cyst content (in case the cyst turns out to be cancerous).
