Movie: Hysteroscopic metroplasty for uterine septum

A uterine septum is a fibrous band in the middle of the uterus (womb) which divides the cavity in to two. It is the most commonl congenital malformation affecting the uterus, and can be associated with subfertility, particularly early or late miscarriages. Whereas years ago the only way to correct the abnormality was by laparotomy (open abdominal surgery), hysteroscopic metroplasty (the medical term for the procedure) has become the preferred treatment. As with almost all hysteroscopic procedures, metroplasty is also day case surgery.
