Movie: Laparoscopic myomectomy

Fibroids which are outside the cavity of the womb can be removed laparoscopically provided they are not too large or too numerous. The surgery is time-consuming, typically taking up to 3-4 hours for larger fibroids, which is longer than with conventional open surgery (laparotomy). However, there is less discomfort afterwards and post-operative recovery tends to be faster.
